The pilgrims’s first tour through the district for this year
Our first tour Grootvlei, Balfour, Greylingstad and Standerton
Daniël Marais and I (Louis Gervais) departed on our 1st Firebreak Tour (1ste Voorbrand Toer) on Sunday the 31st of January and traveled to Grootvlei. From there we visited schools in Balfour and Greylingstad on Monday and visited one of the ministers of the local church. Tuesday we went to Standerton and spent the best part of the day going to the different schools to ask permission to come preach there in April or May (indeed, this is the whole purpose of our two tours through Mpumalanga, to make preparations for that outreach). The schools were quite receptive for which we praise the Lord. We then visited some of the friends of the work and spent the night at a farm.
Troubles with the Toyota on our way to Volksrust
Wednesday morning we had two appointments to share at a school in Volksrust, but our car wouldn’t start. I had not turned the key off all the way and the battery had drained through the night. Thankfully, I had recently bought jumper cables so we were able to make our appointment. I taught the children that they must give the Lord their entire hearts, not just pieces or half of it, illustration the point by tearing a paper heart. Thereafter we tried to visit the friends of the Mission in Volksrust and made further preparations for the forthcoming tour. Thursday we went to Amersfoort, visiting a school and the local preacher. We then also tried to locate some more of the friends of our work in Volksrust, without success. Friday we made another visit to Amersfoort and to Volksrust before interrupting our time in the Gert Sibande District with a weeklong outreach in the Free State. Praise the Lord for His help in all of this!
